Ohio State-Virginia Tech 2015 to take place on Labor Day

VT's AD let it slip Monday that Ohio State-Virginia Tech 2015 will be going down on Labor Day instead of Week 3 as originally scheduled.

Virginia Tech director of athletics Jim Weaver appeared on Tech Talk Live Monday evening and revealed big news regarding the sooner than you think Ohio State-Virginia Tech rematch in Blacksburg. The game had been previously scheduled for September 19th, 2015 but instead will take place on September 7th, Labor Day, 2015.

In a rare Monday appearance for the Buckeyes, OSU and the Hokies will rekindle acquaintances underneath the stars at famed Lane Stadium with "Enter Sandman" blasting over the loudspeakers to kick things off. The game is expected to be televised nationally by ESPN.

Virginia Tech presently has a game scheduled with FCS Furman, but that will have to be bought out or rescheduled. Ohio State, with Northern Illinois expected to opt out of the Buckeyes' scheduled September 12th matchup with the Huskies, will most likely have 3 games to fill in addition to the Labor Day contest. The Buckeyes had previously been the subject of criticisms from Louisville fans (and potentially athletic administrators) who'd insisted that despite UL head coach Charlie Strong and OSU coach Urban Meyer's desires to play one another, Ohio State was thought to be "ducking" the Cardinals.

Ohio State and Virginia Tech will first meet September 20th, 2014 in Columbus in what almost certainly will be a night game at Ohio Stadium.
