Ohio State vs. Buffalo 2013: GameThread

278 days. That's 39 weeks and 5 days. That's the last time we saw Ohio State play football against a team other than Ohio State. While the offseason is equal parts long and cruel, today, the men of the scarlet & gray are back in our lives.

The Buckeyes open 2013 playing host to the Buffalo Bulls, a team they're meeting for the first time ever. Ohio State has a couple of positive trends going there way: 12 straight wins? Check. 12 straight season opening wins? Double check. 61 consecutive home wins against unranked non-conference opponents? Yep, that too.

Though the Buckeyes are a comfortable 34 point favorites against the Bulls, there are still plenty of factors to keep an eye on. With running backs Carlos Hyde and Rod Smith and cornerback Bradley Roby suspended and safety C.J. Barnett potentially out with an alleged ankle injury, a number of young guys should get extra reps they wouldn't have otherwise gotten. Plus there's the whole Braxton factor.

OSU's electric signal caller needs just 14 rushing yards to reach 2,000 for his career (SPOILER: he'll get it). He's also just 95 yards away from passing Cornelius Greene to claim the title of Ohio State's all-time leading rusher at quarterback. We suspect that's very within reach as well.
