In the past week and change, we have brought you quite a few recaps from a number of the recruits who participated in the Ohio State Friday Night Lights camp July 26th. I recently caught back up with 2016 defensive back Patrice Rene, who just happened to be one of the prospects who made it to Columbus. The 6-1 180 pound Ontario, Canada native really enjoyed himself at camp Friday Night Lights was a outstanding camp," Rene told Land-Grant Holy Land. "Going into the camp, I heard it was one of the best in the country, and after attending, I agree with that statement." Patrice definitely took a thing or two away from camp: "I learned a bunch of things that I can take bake home with me and work on."

Having a chance to perform in front of the Buckeye coaches and a few thousand fans would be a dream to many, and that is something Rene fully understands. "Having the opportunity to compete under the lights of the Horseshoe does not come often," he said. "Having that chance was really the highlight of my visit at OSU. Standing in the middle of the field and just taking the time to look around and admire the historical events that happened on that very field was a moment I'll never forget."

While going through drills, Patrice said he could picture a 100,000 fan packed Ohio Stadium cheering, adding, "that gave me motivation to go out there and showcase my talents."

Those are not the only things that stood out to the St. Peter Catholic sophomore. "I really liked the athletes that attended camp. The competition level was off the charts," Patrice said. "I even got to meet Damon Webb and other future Buckeyes. The atmosphere of the camp was amazing, it had a large crowd watching, the music was loud and the coaches were as hyped up as the players. It was great thing to be a part of."

Patrice has been in contact with Kerry Coombs since impressing the Buckeye assistant at the recent Sound Mind Sound Body Camp held in Michigan earlier this summer. The two talk almost weekly and that seems certain to continue after Rene was at Friday Night Lights. "During camp, I only really spoke to Coach Coombs. I saw Coach Meyer, but unfortunately did not get the chance to talk to him. Having the chance to go down and get coached by Coach Coombs was really nice. He told me things that I need to work on and what I did well." Patrice went on to add, "I believe that Coach Coombs and I have built a solid relationship. In fact, he invited me to come back to Columbus and watch one of their games, I'm really excited for that."

Even though he has a few years before he will suit up at the college level, Rene already holds offers from Akron and Syracuse. With a number of other quality programs already showing interest, his scholarship list should grow in the very near future.
