Ohio State started the second half on their own 25, but it was a drive filled with penalties. A called face mask on Chris Fields and illegal use of the hands called against Marcus Hall. It's worth noting that Jacoby Boren filled in for Corey Linsley at center. There's no cause for concern for that switch.
However, the Buckeye defense was able to gain back the momentum as Michael Bennett got into the backfield and made a stop for a loss of four yards. Another penalty by SDSU aided the Buckeyes on third down and forced the Aztecs to punt for the sixth time.
The Buckeye's second possession of the second half was a slow and methodical—melting away the clock every chance they got. After running the time down to under five minutes, Guiton looked to Corey Brown once again and Brown went up and reeled in the catch over two Aztecs and extended to lead to 42 points. The catch capped an 11 play, 66 yard drive.
LIke right before halftime, SDSU found some success through the air. Ezell Ruffin was able to elude Doran Grant and get up the sideline for 19 yards. The next play Quinn Kaehler found Colin Lockett over the middle to get into the Buckeye red zone. The drive continued and finally Kaelher dropped a pass into the hands of Chad Young to get the Aztecs their first points of the day, 42-7.
