Ohio State recruiting: State Secrets, 1/9 - Bucks make top 5 for 4-star OL

Buckeyes make the top 5 for a big-time target in the state of New Jersey. Plus, two targets plan to announce their group of finalists on Friday. Find out who below.

'15 offensive lineman Steven Gonzalez has Ohio State among his favorite schools.

Most early enrollees are either settled in on campus or will be coming in later this week. With about a month left until National Signing Day, the Buckeyes will start placing the finishing touches on the 2014 class.

Could '14 WR David Njoku be one of those pieces to finish this class? Njoku announced on Twitter yesterday that he would announce his top 3 on Friday:

Njoku currently has an official visit scheduled to Columbus on January 17th. With that visit set, I would definitely expect the 3-star ATH to include the Buckeyes in that list. I would also expect the Nittany Lions and the Hurricanes of Miami to be in the top three for the former Rutgers Scarlet Knight commit.

Another Buckeye target that will be announcing his group of top schools tomorrow will be '15 WR DaMarkus Lodge of Cedar Hill High School in Texas. The 6-2, 190-pound wide-out will be announcing a group of 8 and he has many great schools to choose from. Lodge currently holds offers from Auburn, Baylor, Clemson, Ohio State, Oklahoma Texas, Texas A&M and a handful of others.

Perhaps the biggest news on Wednesday was when '15 OL Steven Gonzalez placed the Buckeyes in his top 5.

Out of those five, the Buckeyes and Rutgers are definitely the two programs in the best shape to land the talented 4-star lineman. 247Sports' Crystal Ball currently has the Buckeyes out in front at 87% to land the 6'5, 300-pound Union Hill product.

'15 DB Kendrell McFadden, who holds an offer from coach Meyer and Ohio State, will be making his decision on Friday. However, McFadden, who holds many offers from the top schools in the country, will likely wind up choosing between the Hurricanes or the Mountaineers of West Virginia.
