The Buckeyes might have had the weekend off, but they still walked away with a big win. Just a couple weeks removed from obtaining an offer from Ohio State, 2015 wide receiver Alex Stump of Lakewood St. Edward decommitted from the University of Kentucky, in favor of his home state's squad.
"Growing up watching them every week, this was just an opportunity that I could not pass up. I never went out and tried to be recruited by Ohio State, but rather let my play show them what I could bring the team. In the end, this is my dream school, and I am very excited to be going there," Alex told the Cleveland Plain Dealer soon after announcing his college plans.
Stump, who stands 6'3 and 190 pounds, is the 17th senior to give Urban Meyer and the OSU coaches a verbal commitment. The four-star prospect adds a taller receiving threat to the offense, which was a main focus for the Bucks out on the recruiting trail.
As a junior, he was named Honorable Mention All-Ohio, after catching 57 passes for 987 yards and 14 touchdowns. Stump started his senior season where he left off last year before sustaining a season-ending foot injury.
Still months away from joining the Buckeyes, his foot should be healed by the time he makes the move to Columbus for college.

Buckeyes offer Nixon:
On Friday, Ohio State tight end coach Tim Hinton headed down to Florida to watch 2016 wide receiver Tre Nixon on Friday in person. Impressed with what he saw out of Nixon, who caught four passes for 157 yards and a touchdown, the former Marion Harding head coach ended up reaching out to the junior on Sunday and offering him a chance to suit up for the Bucks.
"Coach Hinton told me on the phone. He said that he loves the speed I bring to the game, and what I can do with the ball in my hands. It feels great. I'm honored, and thankful to have an offer from them," Nixon stated to Land-Grant Holy Land soon after adding the offer from OSU to his scholarship list.
Army, Duke, Florida, Miami, Ole Miss, West Virginia, Penn State, Michigan State and Illinois are just a few of the teams after the 6'0, 160 pound three-star prospect.
Nixon will have the chance to watch Ohio State play pretty soon. He will be one of the many recruits visiting Penn State when the Buckeyes head to Happy Valley on the 25th.

Meyer, staff check out recruits:
Hinton wasn't the only OSU coach on the road this week. Head coach Urban Meyer and assistants Kerry Coombs and Luke Fickell were a few of the other staff members to watch recruits in action on Friday.
Meyer and Coombs went down to Cincinnati to watch 2015 OSU commit Justin Hilliard and St. Xavier take on La Salle and 2016 athlete Jeremy Larkin, who was recently offered by Northwestern. Hilliard and the Bombers tiptoed away with a 24-21 win.
Key 2015 target Jerome Baker and recent offeree Justin Layne, a class of 2016 wide receiver, had Luke Fickell roaming the sidelines of Cleveland Benedictine. Both had solid games in the front of Fickell to help lead Benedictine to a 55-16 victory over Notre Dame Cathedral-Latin.
Quick Hits:
- Per Luke Stampini of 247Sports, four-star 2015 OL Jalen Merrick of New Smyrna Beach, Florida will visit Ohio State on November 29th for the Michigan game. The 6'5, 295-pound lineman holds offers from OSU, Florida, Miami, South Carolina, and Wisconsin to name a few.
- Joe Burrow is on a roll. Did he do enough on Friday to win his seventh straight Land-Grant Holy Land Elite '15 MVP of the Week? If you haven't already, take a few moments to vote.
