Back in May, Ohio State sent out its first offer to a current high school freshman. The recipient of the offer was 2018 safety Tyreke Johnson from Trinity Christian Academy (FL). On Wednesday, the Buckeyes sent out the second offer to a 2018 prospect.
2018 running back Ricky Slade from C.D Hylton (VA) received a call from Ohio State defensive line coach Larry Johnson last night and the ending result was great news for the 5'9, 170-pounder. "He (Larry Johnson) told me how much they like me and asked me about the season, and how it's going, then offered me", Slade told Land Grant Holy-Land's Charles Doss.
The offer from the Buckeyes was the third for Slade in the last 24 hours, as he also received offers from the in-state Virginia Cavaliers and Virginia Tech Hokies. "It feels great. It definitely put a smile on my face", Slade said when speaking about the offer from Ohio State. As of now, Slade is currently projected to wind up in Scarlet and Gray on the 247Sports Crystal Ball.
Just got off the phone with coach Johnson down at ohio st, and Received an offer from the buckeyes #gobucks !!— ‼️Ricky Slade ‼️3⃣ (@NextBigThiing_) October 2, 2014
When asked about where Ohio State stands at this point, Slade responded by saying "I would say they're first." The talented freshman has visited Ohio State previously and is planning to visit Ohio State, Penn State and Virginia in the coming months. One interesting thing to note is that Slade is currently teammates with big-time 2015 target Matthew Burrell. You can check out highlights of the newest offeree in action here.

Standout DL might visit:
The Buckeyes have yet to add a defensive tackle to the fold for the 2015 recruiting class but one of their targets at the position is considering them for an official visit. According to Tom VanHaaren of ESPN, 2015 defensive tackle Christian Wilkins will be choosing between Boston College, Clemson, Notre Dame, Penn State and Ohio State for his remaining official visits.
Earlier this month, the big-man for Suffield Academy (CT) took his first official visit to Stanford, so he has four more officials remaining. Wilkins is a four-star prospect and the No. 9 overall player at his position. In addition to those rankings, the 6'4, 290-pounder is also the best player in the state of Connecticut and the No. 57 player in the class.
Robertson diggin' OSU:
Lastly, 2016 defensive end Auston Robertson is a pretty big fan of his most recent offer. According to Jeff Svoboda of Buckeye Sports Bulletin, the offer "means a lot" to the Wayne (IN) pass rusher. Ohio State extended the offer to Robertson after the 50-28 victory against Cincinnati on Saturday, in which Robertson was in attendance for. Along with Ohio State, Robertson has offers from Indiana, Michigan, Michigan State and Notre Dame thus far. The Fort Wayne native is the sixth best weak-side defensive end in the country and the second best player in Indiana behind '16 WR Austin Mack, who the Buckeyes have also offered.
