"It’s a rare day when The Ohio State University manages to fly under the radar, but that’s exactly what the Buckeyes have been doing since their Week 2 home loss to Virginia Tech."
-Stewart Mandel, Fox Sports
It started last week, but the chatter keeps getting louder. What seemed unthinkable in the days following Ohio State’s week two loss to Virginia Tech is now becoming a real possibility. According to Fox Sports’ Stewart Mandel, should the Buckeyes win out, they have a very legitimate chance of making the playoff. Mandel writes:
The Buckeyes visit 4-2 Penn State in a primetime showcase this weekend. Get through that and the countdown begins to Michigan State. The winner of that game is likely going to win out as Big Ten champ, which would put it squarely in the conversation. Ohio State’s biggest problem: Virginia Tech is now 4-3, including 1-2 in the ACC. That won’t help the resume.
So will the strength of a 12-1 season be enough to overcome the stench of a home loss to a mediocre team? Only time will tell, but it’s not sounding as crazy as it did a month ago.
"It’s going to be agonizing when we get to that point, because I can make a case for all of them ..."
-Steve Kerr, Warriors' Head Coach
The NBA preseason is coming to a close and former Buckeye Aaron Craft is still in the thick of the race for the final spot on the Golden State Warriors’ roster. It’s a tight race between Craft and four other training camp invitees: Justin Holiday, Jason Kapono, James Michael Mcadoo, and Mitchell Watt. In the team’s most recent contest against the Denver Nuggets, the five bubble players saw what was expected to be their last extended action of the preseason. Craft had a strange but solid box score contributing three points, seven rebounds, and three assists.
Head Coach Steve Kerr assessed the bubble situation as follows:
"It’s going to be agonizing when we get to that point, because I can make a case for all of them ..." McAdoo gives us something we don’t have on the roster, which is a really super explosive, running, leaping guy at the '4.’ … I thought Aaron Craft was terrific (Friday) night, settling down the team. Justin Holiday hasn’t shot the ball well, but he’s been really impressive defensively in practice. He was amazing in the summer league, hitting game-winning shots. These guys have all done a really good job."
It’s going to be a battle for the final roster spot and we'll find out if Craft has what it takes to come out on top.
