The big news from Wednesday came when Ohio State received a commitment from '15 DE Rashod Berry of Lorain (OH). The three-star pass rusher is the 19th prospect to give the Buckeyes a verbal pledge in this year's class. Berry joins fellow Ohioans Jerome Baker, Joe Burrow, Nick Conner, Eric Glover-Williams, Justin Hilliard, Dre'Mont Jones, Liam McCullough, Alex Stump and Denzel Ward in the Elite 15 class.

The addition of Berry put the Buckeyes up five spots in the 247Sports Composite team rankings, as they now sit at No. 9 overall behind Alabama, Georgia, Tennessee, Clemson, South Carolina, Texas A&M, Florida State and Auburn. Ohio State also jumped the Nittany Lions, whom they play on Saturday night, for the No. 1 class in the Big Ten Conference.

Speaking of the game on Saturday night, Penn State will be hosting a fair amount of prospects that the Buckeyes are targeting. Some of those prospects include '15 OT Matthew Burrell, '16 DE Kyree Campbell, '16 CB Damar Hamlin, '16 DE Ron Johnson, '16 OT Michael Menet, '16 WR Tre Nixon and '17 DE Corey Malone-Hatcher.

'16 WR Justin Layne announced on Twitter yesterday that he will also be in attendance for the prime-time game in Beaver Stadium. The 6'3, 180-pounder is the teammate of Tuesday's newest Buckeye, '15 LB/RB Jerome Baker, at Benedictine (OH). Layne is No. 77 overall in next years class which is good for a four-star recruit ranking. The Cleveland native is also the 13th ranked WR and the 5th overall player from the state of Ohio. Despite the Buckeyes not being at home, it gives them an opportunity to make an impression on the aforementioned prospects on the gridiron.

Buckeyes looking to host Joshua Norwood:

One prospect that the Buckeyes look to host on a visit fairly soon is '15 CB Joshua Norwood, a Cincinnati Bearcat commit. According to 247Sports' Bill Kurelic, Norwood will "most likely" make an official visit to Columbus next Saturday for the game against the Fighting Illini. Ohio State first offered the Valdosta (GA) standout earlier this month and Norwood told Kurelic that he talks to the Buckeyes staff a lot, as recent as Monday with Head Coach Urban Meyer. The 5'10, 175-pound cornerback committed to the Bearcats back in June but interest from big-time programs has increased recently. Norwood is currently a three-star prospect but will likely see a ratings boost for his performance this season.

Buckeyes make Jacques Patrick's final list:

Lastly, '15 RB Jacques Patrick announced the five final schools from which he will select. The list of schools includes Alabama, Florida, Florida State, Ohio State and Texas A&M. Patrick will make his decision on October 27th at Timber Creek High School (FL) at 6 PM. Patrick is a four-star prospect and the No. 3 running back in the nation. The most recent visit Patrick made to Columbus was on September 6th when the Buckeyes fell to Virginia Tech. The 247Sports Crystal Ball projects the stud running back from Florida to stay in-state and play for the Seminoles.
