Ohio State recruiting: State Secrets, 10/27 - Joshua Paschal, Jawaan Taylor, Dane Goodwin earn offers

Two new football offers went out over the weekend, as well as one from the basketball program. See who the recipients were and if the Buckeyes have a chance to land any of them.

A handful of offers went out over the weekend and we'll start with 2017 athlete Joshua Paschal, who picked one up from the Buckeyes. Paschal, who is just a sophomore, already stands at 6'3 and weighs 250 pounds. Originally from Maryland, Ohio State's offer was his first and should start a snowball effect that will lead to a ton more. Paschal is being recruited at a defensive end, but there's a chance that he may need to move inside as his body matures even more. There's no way of telling how much he will physically grow by the time he's a senior in high school--in two years. Ohio State has made a jump out in front in his recruitment, but it's a wide open race. His brother currently plays at Kentucky, so figure that the Wildcats will eventually make a strong push too. Here are his mid-season highlights.

Taylor picks up O-line offer:

Jawaan Taylor also picked up an offer from Ohio State over the weekend. Taylor is a 2016 offensive line prospect who holds offers from a slew of schools including Miami (FL), Clemson, and Cincinnati. Checking in at 6'5 and 355 pounds, he'll need to lose some of that weight when he steps on a college campus. Nonetheless, he's a physical specimen that colleges coaches would love to get their hands on. Being a Florida native, it'll be hard to beat out the Hurricanes, but much like Paschal, this recruitment is wide open and it will go on for some time. By this time next season, look for him to be one of the top offensive line prospects in the entire country. Urban Meyer has proven he can out-duel southern schools for southern prospects; we'll see if he can grab another one.

Buckeyes make Mitchell's list:

2016 wide receiver Dillon Mitchell named his top eight--a list that includes Ohio State. He also made it apparent that he will make his commitment this week. Mitchell, from Tennessee, has good size and speed and holds offers from some of the biggest programs in the country. At this time, it looks as if Alabama may be the choice, but we are a while away from signing day in 2016. If the Buckeyes don't get a commitment from Mitchell, expect Urban Meyer to keep chasing him.

OSU hoops offers Goodwin:

To the hardwood, and looking way down the road, shooting guard Dane Goodwin was offered this week. A class of 2018 shooting guard from Upper Arlington, Goodwin already stands at 6'4 and the Buckeyes should be in this one all the way till the end. Being an Ohio native, Goodwin understands what it means to play for the Buckeyes and will make a push for the top player in the state by the time his junior and senior seasons roll around.
