2015 Ohio State spring game date set

The Shoedown in the Shoe has been scheduled, and Buckeye fans will get to see an elite lacrosse program before the spring game

USA TODAY Sports

2015 will mark the first year of Big Ten lacrosse as a sport, and to celebrate, Buckeye fans will get quite the opening act before the 2015 spring football game. In the Showdown in the Shoe, Ohio State will face off against Maryland on April 18th. The lacrosse game will be held at 11:00 AM, and the spring game will follow.

This is the seventh version of the Shoedown in the Shoe, which has previously featured Michigan, Air Force, and others. The Buckeyes set an NCAA attendance record in 2010 when over 31,000 fans watched the Buckeyes beat Air Force. Ohio State didn't host a lacrosse game in 2013 because the game was played in Cincinnati, due to Ohio Stadium repairs.

The Ohio State lacrosse team had a great 2012-2013 season, but struggled last year, finishing 6-8. Maryland finished 10-4 last year, losing 16-8 to Cornell in the first round of the NCAA tournament.

Should be a great event for Ohio State, and now you all can plan your schedules accordingly to catch some high level lacrosse and a sneak peak at what should be a very good football team next season.
