Ohio State currently holds 18 verbal commitments in their 2015 recruiting class. However, they only have two that are currently projected to be offensive linemen at the collegiate level: Kevin Feder from New Jersey and Grant Schmidt from South Dakota.
Bowen to make official visit:
As we all know, Ohio State is trying to add a few more prospects to the fold at that position. One of those players is scheduled to be on campus this weekend for an official visit. '15 OT Branden Bowen from Corner Canyon (UT) will be making his second visit to Columbus throughout the recruiting process. The 6'7, 330-pounder was on campus back in June for an unofficial visit. Bowen is a three-star prospect and 779th-overall player in the class. The current Utah Utes commitment is also the 84th-overall offensive tackle and the 8th-best player from the state of Utah. Our own Charles Doss caught up with Bowen yesterday to discuss the upcoming visit to Columbus.
Buckeyes targeting Prince:
Another target that still has the Buckeyes as a possibility is '15 OT Isaiah Prince, from Maryland. Prince, a four-star tackle, was in Columbus back in June and looks to be on his way back for an official visit in the future. According to Bill Kurelic of 247Sports, the 6'7, 280-pounder has four officials planned to Alabama, Florida, Maryland and Ohio State. Prince also stated that he does indeed plan on taking his fifth and final visit as well. The Eleanor Roosevelt big man is one of the best in the country at his position. He currently sits at 8th at offensive tackle, the best in the state of Maryland and the 94th-overall player in the country.
Warinner looks to flip two linemen:
Two other major OL targets are '15 OT Andre James and '15 JUCO OT Martinas Rankin. According to Bill Kurelic of 247Sports, the two prospects have been in contact with offensive line coach Ed Warinner about setting up official visits. James is a four-star prospect from Utah and had the Buckeyes in his final group prior to selecting UCLA. As for Rankin, he is a three-star JUCO prospect from Mississippi. Currently, the two big programs in the state and Oklahoma are the only schools with predictions of landing the 6'5, 300-pounder.
McKee rounds out visitors list:
Lastly, Ohio State added another to the list of visitors for this weekend's game vs the Fighting Illini. According to 247Sports' Alex Gleitman, '15 OLB Anthony McKee from Marion Franklin (OH) will also be on campus on Saturday. McKee is a three-star linebacker and currently looks to be favoring the Oklahoma Sooners and the Michigan State Spartans. The Columbus native is the 14th-overall player in the state of Ohio and the 22nd at the outside linebacker position. Worth noting, Ohio State already has commitments from three linebackers: Jerome Baker, Nick Conner and Justin Hilliard, but they may be recruiting McKee as a safety.
