Though Aaron Craft failed to make the Warriors' final round of cuts as the NBA regular season approached, the Warriors made a major roster move with respect to their point guard depth chart on Tuesday.
2013 first-round pick Nemanja Nedovic was shown the door by Golden State Tuesday afternoon. The Mercury News sports columnist Tim Kawakami expects Craft to be tabbed by the Warriors as his replacement. Craft has been playing for the Santa Clara Warriors, the D-League affiliate of the NBA franchise.
This summer, Kawakami speculated that Craft made more sense for the team than Nedovic:
But the former Big 10 defensive player of the year is miles ahead of Nedovic as a defender, which is large when the Warriors are always looking for somebody who can chase around tough point guards for a few minutes at a time.
Craft was the subject of ridicule just before his release when he was forced to dress up and reprise his singing of Miley Cyrus' "Party in the USA".
We'll have more if this call-up becomes official as expected.
