After last week's very impressive win over the Michigan State Spartans, our Ohio State Buckeyes have finally cracked the College Football Playoff Rankings top ten, moving up from No. 14 to No. 8. For many members of the Buckeye nation, the thought of making it to the inaugural College Football Playoffs seems a lot more solid now. There is still plenty of football to be played, though. This week, Ohio State goes up against the Minnesota Golden Gophers, who, at No. 25, will most likely be Ohio State's last ranked opponent in the regular season. Let's look at how you can enjoy the game this week.
When and where will this game be played?
This week, we travel even farther north than last week to Minneapolis, MN, home of the University of Minnesota. Kickoff will be at noon ET, and it's going to be cold. Like, below freezing cold. Bring a jacket or two or ten, people. Real Big Ten football begins this week.
I never leave the house if it's not at least 50ºF outside. How can I watch the game?
Once again, this week's game will be available on ABC. In certain areas, the game will also available on Watch ABC (it varies from city to city) and on ESPN3 (this should be available in all areas). The TV crew this week will consist of Dave Pasch, Brian Griese, and Tom Luginbill. (I'm still waiting for my dream team combo of Gus Johnson, Dick Vitale, and Lee Corso.) If you'll be on the road at all, tune in to 97.1 FM The Fan or your local Ohio State radio network affiliate so as to not miss a minute of the action.
Where can I find the folks over at ESPN's College GameDay this week?
The good people of GameDay have run away back south to warmer weather. This week, they will be in Tuscaloosa, AL, where No. 5 Alabama will host No. 1 Mississippi State in a showdown that should definitely be of interest to Ohio State fans. Undefeated Mississippi State will be looking to maintain the perfect record and top spot in the rankings, while Alabama can't afford a second loss for the season if they want to remain in the playoff discussion. That game will be on CBS at 3:30 p.m. ET.
What other Big Ten games are there this week?
At noon, in addition to Ohio State at Minnesota, Iowa will play at Illinois, and Penn State will take a break from Big Ten play to host Temple. At 3:30 p.m., Indiana (our opponent next week) will play at Rutgers, Northwestern will travel to Notre Dame, and Nebraska will play at Wisconsin. This game could have some major implications for the Buckeyes' post-season play, as the winner of this game will likely win the West Division. Should Ohio State win the East, then the Big Ten Championship game against one of these two teams would give us one more game against a ranked opponent. To cap off the night, Michigan State will play at Maryland at 8 p.m.
Looking for more football? Then look no further. The chart below should answer all your questions.
