Ohio State recruiting: State Secrets, 11/19 - Justin Hilliard makes pitch to Damien Harris, Adam McLean decommits from PSU

Justin Hilliard kept his recruiting efforts up, making a pitch to Damien Harris. Also, Adam McLean decommitted from Penn State. Can the Buckeyes get back into this one?

Student Sports

Starting things off, Justin Hilliard, who has been one of the lead recruiters of the 2015 class, recently made a pitch to five-star running back Damien Harris.

Look for Hilliard to stay on top of Harris through the rest of his process as the two have been tight for quite some time. Things look like they have been trending towards Kentucky as of late, but nothing huge and Ohio State is most definitely still in the thick of the race. As we all know, recruiting is all about relationships and the more that Hilliard interacts with Harris, the stronger that relationship becomes. Yes, the Buckeyes have a loaded backfield and it should be like that more years into the future, but there's always a need when it comes to a special talent like Harris. In the photograph above Hilliard and Harris are pictured with Matthew Burrell and Jashon Cornell.

Burrell had an interesting conversation with Damien Harris as well.

Staying on Justin Hilliard, he was named the District I district player of the year on Tuesday night. Not a surprise as Hilliard has a claim to being the best player in the entire state and has been for the last couple of years. He'll shine when he gets a chance to put on the scarlet and gray.

McLean back on the market:

Long time Ohio State target Adam McLean decommitted from Penn State yesterday. With McLean opening his recruitment back up, the Buckeyes have as good as a chance as anyone. Matthew Burrell and McLean have always been close, so the recent commitment of Burrell could pay dividends. At this point, Michigan State looks like they may have caught McLean's eye and could be his leader. A defensive tackle, Ohio State needs to go after the Maryland native hard as he's definitely a position of need for this year's class.

Harris watches Buckeyes take down Marquette:

To the hardwood, current Ohio State basketball commit AJ Harris was in Columbus last night when the Buckeyes hosted Marquette. Harris, a 2015 prospect, is the number four rated player in the state of Ohio and regarded as one of the best point guards in the entire country. Though just 5'9, Harris has elite quickness and has tremendous skill handling the ball. He'll fit in nicely with the group that Thad Matta was able to bring in last year.

Buckeyes to visit Dennis Smith

Members of the Ohio State coaching staff will be in to see 2016 point guard Dennis Smith today. Smith is a consensus five-star prospect from North Carolina with offers from every major program in the country. The Carolina schools will be tough to beat and Thad Matta will need to bring his A game to land the number one rated prospect in the state of North Carolina. If things click tomorrow, watch for Smith to become more of an option moving forward.

Quick Hits:

- Ohio State long snapper commit Liam McCullough will receive his Army All-American jersey tomorrow. McCullough is one of many Buckeye commits that will participate in the event next January.
