Joey Bosa named a 2014 Bednarik Award finalist

The award goes annually to the nation's best defensive player.

Ohio State superstar defensive lineman Joey Bosa was named a finalist for the Bednarik Award Tuesday evening.

The Bednarik Award, presented by the Maxwell Football Club, is given each season to the nation's most outstanding defensive player. The sophomore, who many NFL Draft experts believe would be one of the top players selected were he draft eligible, is one of only three still up for the prestigious honor. Clemson senior Vic Beasley, who gave the Buckeyes fit in last year's Orange Bowl, and Arizona sophomore Scooby Wright are the other two still in the mix.

Bosa was also named a finalist for the Rotary Lombardi Award. Awarded by the Rotary Club of Houston, the Lombardi goes to the country's best offensive or defensive lineman.
