Joey Bosa captured the love of Ohio State fans with his pass rushing ability, genuine personality, underrated twitter account, and patented shrug celebration. Now, he's captured something else, the Big Ten's Smith-Brown Defensive Lineman of the Year award, beating out multiple other talented linemen from the conference, and his own team.
Bosa finished fifth in the country in total sacks, with 13.5, and tops in the Big Ten. He had four games with at least two sacks, including 2.5 against Penn State, where he most memorably ended this game with his walk-off sack of Penn State's Christian Hackenberg to finish the second overtime, giving Ohio State the win. Bosa also leads Ohio State with 20 tackles for loss, and is seventh on the team in total tackles, with 46.
Given that he's only a sophomore, the expectations for Bosa next season will be sky high, and he's already perhaps the most destructive defensive force in the Big Ten. How good can Ohio State's defensive line be next year when he returns? Shrug.
Congrats to Bosa on the well deserved award.
