The Ohio State wrestling team had faced Kent State once before this season, earning a 27-6 victory on the road. The match was closer than it seemed, though. Several matches went to overtime, and the Buckeyes were fortunate to get most of the breaks. In the quarterfinals of the National Duals, it was a different story. The Buckeyes dominated from the word go, as Nick Roberts recorded a 15-0 tech fall in the very first match of the evening. The Buckeyes kept pouring it on winning the next five matches to take a 21-0 lead.
The Buckeyes first loss came at 174 as fill-in Joey Bresciani lost 12-1. From that point on, it was all Ohio State. The Buckeyes scored a pair of decisions at 184 and 197 and a technical fall victory at 285 to seal the blowout victory.
Ohio State will take on #1-seed Minnesota tomorrow at 1:00 p.m. in the semifinals. The match will be broadcast live on the Big Ten Network.

Preliminary Rounds
The Ohio State wrestling team was expected to dominate its first-round matchup against Hofstra, and that's exactly what happened. The Buckeyes began the match with a flurry, winning the first four matches by way of two decisions, a forfeit, and a 16-1 technical fall by Logan Stieber over nationally ranked Luke Vaith.
As has been the case for most of the dual season, the Buckeyes sputtered a bit in the middle weights with both Randy Languis and Joe Grandominico losing by decision. Filling in for Mark Martin, Jacob Bresciani dropped a major decision.
The loss at 174 would be the Buckeyes' last of the night. Kenny Courts overcame a leg injury to beat Victor Pozsonyi 10-3. The Buckeyes closed with a fall at 197 and a 3-1 decision victory at 285, earning a 29-10 victory and a place in the semifinals.

Other Preliminary Results
North Dakota State d. Chatanooga 28-10
The Bison put in a dominating performance in a dual that was never all that close. They will face tournament favorite Minnesota in the quarterfinals.
Kent State d. Iowa State 19-16
In what was the weekend's first upset, Kent State used an upset at 174 pounds to defeat the Cyclones 19-16. The dual was tight throughout, coming down to the very final match, a 3-2 win for the Golden Flashes at heavyweight.
Central Michigan d. Illinois 19-13
The second upset of the tournament, this one wasn't as close as the score indicates. Jesse Delgado won the opener, but it was all downhill from there for the Illini as they lost by 9 to the unranked Chippewas.
Oklahoma d. Bloomsburg 21-15
#6 Richard Perry (Bloomsburg) pinned #5 Travis Rutt (OKLA), but it wasn't enough as the Sooners won by six.
Virginia Tech d. Oregon State 18-16
In a close match, the Hokies were able to squeak by the Beavers. Next up is a quarterfinal matchup against two-seed Cornell.
