The fifth-ranked Ohio State men's tennis team clinched the ITA indoors title as they took down third-ranked USC in the championship match. The Bucks were able to defeat USC with a score of 4-1 and bring home their first ever indoor title championship. This win makes it 13 straight for the Buckeyes this season, as they look to carry moment into the outdoor season.
Ohio State was lead by senior Peter Kobelt, who was able to secure the number one singles match 6-3 6-4 over USC's Ray Sarmiento. Also contributing to the Bucks victory were singles players, Ralf Steinbach and Hunter Callahan, and the doubles teams of, Peter Kobelt/Kevin Metka and Ralf Steinbach/Chris Diaz.
The Buckeyes' road to the championship was not an easy one, as they had to go through the No.1 team in the country UVA, who were on a 36-match winning streak. Coming into this season many believed this would be a rebuilding year for the young Bucks after losing key players such as Blaz Rola, but Coach Ty Tucker and the gang has a different goal in mind. It will be interesting to see where Ohio State stands come the tournament this season.
