Ohio State-Iowa score update: Bucks hanging tough, trail 33-31

A combination of solid defense from OSU and poor shooting by Iowa has the Hawkeyes up by just 2 early.

In a game of runs, a 9-0 run from the Buckeyes gave way to an 8-0 Iowa run before the two teams began trading baskets leading to where we are now. Aaron Craft had arguably his best offensive game of the season after being trolled (often profanely) in the early going by the home crowd.

Ohio State shot considerably better than they had from the field of late, but continued to struggle both in transition and finishing for much of the first half. Iowa shot worse than their usual selves, but were efficient enough from both ends to make life uncomfortable for the Buckeyes.

Iowa's starters offensively distributed the load, but no one Hawkeye stepped up early. If Ohio State can continue to play the kind of defense that prevents so much as a single Iowa player from getting into the zone, the Buckeyes should have every chance to win this one.

KEY STATS:

  • Aaron Craft - 5-5, 14 points, 4 steals
  • Ohio State - 15-of-25 from the field, 4-of-8 from 3
  • No Iowa starters in double figures
