Jamarco Jones signs with Ohio State over Michigan State

Four-star offensive tackle Jamarco Jones is one step closer to suiting up for the Ohio State Buckeyes after signing and faxing in his National Letter of Intent this morning. The 6'5, 290-pound lineman out of Chicago's De La Salle Institute committed to the Buckeyes in June over a long list of scholarship offers that included programs such as Michigan, Michigan State, Arkansas, Florida State and Notre Dame to name a few.

Even after missing over half of his senior season at De La Salle with a shoulder injury, Jones joined future teammate and OSU early enrollee Raekwon McMillan in participating in last month's annual Under Armour All-America Game, which included many of the top recruits from the class of 2014.

SB Nation recruiting analyst Bud Elliott recently broke down what the Buckeyes could expect out of Jones when he hits the field next season:

"There is a lot to like about Jamarco Jones. As with any lineman, the first thing to evaluate is size. Jones is very well put together at close to 6'5 and 300 pounds, although I am not sure if he has great length.

Jones is able to bend his knees and drop his weight into a block, as opposed to bending at the waist. I also like that Jones will move his feet through initial contact and finish off his opponent. He isn't satisfied with simply making a block. After talking with him this summer and finding him to be a nice, laid-back kid, I was glad to see that he turns on the nasty between the white lines."

Jones could add a little bulk to his already large frame, but his size is ideal to play tackle at Ohio State. Jones finishes his blocks and drives his opponent into the ground on the regular. He gets low on smaller players and uses his leg strength to drive defenders in the run game. He has basic pass pro-technique down and will eventually be a starter at tackle for the Buckeyes.
