Jalyn Holmes signs with Ohio State

Buckeye fans can breathe a little easier now, as another recruit's letter of intent hit Urban's desk. Four-star defensive end Jalyn Holmes is officially a student-athlete for the Buckeyes. Holmes was the 10th player in the 2014 class to give his verbal to Ohio State, and will now look to become a Buckeye great under new defensive line coach Larry Johnson Sr.

Holmes, out of Norfolk, Virginia, played both sides of the ball in high school as a defensive end and a tight end. Once he arrives in Columbus, look for Holmes to focus on the defensive side of the ball.  The 6'5, 225-pound freak of an athlete was selected to play in the U.S. Army All-American Game this January, and impressed many with his athleticism on a fumble recovery that he took all the way to the house. During Holmes' junior campaign at Lake Taylor High School, he stockpiled 79 tackles, 40 tackles for losses, 11 sacks, and 3 pass breakups.

Holmes had offers from some of the best programs in the country, including Clemson, Florida, Florida State, USC, Miami, and in a burst of wild optimism, East Carolina.

Our Christopher Jason took a look at Holmes' tape and had this to say about his talent:

Holmes is a very lanky, pass rushing, defensive end prospect. He played as a stand-up defensive end in high school and used his speed/quickness to get by opposing offensive tackles. Holmes has quite a bit of upside on the defensive line once he fills out his 6'5 frame, and I expect him to be a solid pass rusher with a devastating spin move as he gets more experience under his belt.
