It's been mentioned on this website many times, but it can't be emphasized enough that the Buckeyes need at least one (and maybe two) quarterbacks in their 2015 recruiting class.
They have offered a handful of players at the position at the position already, one of which is Orlando (FL) Olympia quarterback Deondre Francois, who threw for 1,400 yards and tossed 19 touchdowns as a high school junior.
The standout quarterback has offers from and is hearing from some of the top schools in the nation, but there are a select few he hears from the most.
"Florida State, Tennessee, Auburn, Ohio State, Florida, Clemson, Miami, and a lot of other schools," Francois said of the schools he hears from the most.
Ohio State extended the 6'1, 190-pound signal caller a couple of weeks ago when running backs coach Stan Drayton was talking to Francois on the phone.
"Coach Drayton talked to me on the phone and said he liked my film and stuff and offered me," Francois told Land-Grant Holy Land. "He wants me to come up for a visit."
Growing up in the state of Florida, Francois got to see Urban Meyer's Florida Gators teams firsthand and is a big fan of the Ohio State head coach.
"I was big fan of the Gators," he continued. "I'm a big fan of Urban Meyer. He's a great coach and is one of the best coaches to ever coach at the college level. It would be a pleasure to play for him."
Of the in state schools who are recruiting him, he hears from Florida and Florida State the most, while hearing seldom from Miami.
"Talk to Florida State almost every week and Florida almost every other day of the week," he said. "Then Miami, I don't really hear from them too much."
Francois said he has the most contact with Florida, but the Gators aren't even in his current top four schools.
"Right now Florida, but they're not in my top five. They have been talking to me the most," Francois said. "Florida State, Auburn, Tennessee, Ohio State, and that's about it right now."
He admits Florida State stands out "a lot", but adds that's mainly because he hasn't been able to check out Ohio State, Auburn, and Tennessee.
"Florida State is standing out a lot, but that's because they've been my only junior day visit besides Florida," he said. "Once I got to Tennessee, Ohio State, and Auburn, then I'll be able to choose who's up their with Florida State."
No visits are set in stone right now, but there could be a couple of visits on the horizon.
"No, I don't have any visits set right now, but I'm just going by the week," he said of when he would like to visit the schools.
Most quarterbacks like to commit early to help recruit for there class. Things are no different with Francois as he'd like to have everything over with by the start of his senior season. There were also be many factors that go into the decision.
"I'm going to commit before the first game of the season," Francois stated. "The coaches, the history behind the program, the recent success the program has had, and the education."
Right now, Francois has the best relationships with coaches from two schools.
"Coach Fisher from Florida State, coach Gillespie from Tennessee, and that's about," the standout quarterback stated.
I would definitely keep an eye on this name as Francois is a legitimate candidate for one of Ohio State's two open spots at the quarterback position. It will be huge to get him on campus as soon as possible.
