Undrafted free agent signings 2014: Kenny Guiton to Bills camp

'Coach Guiton' is headed to Buffalo to try and stick at Bills camp.

While Ohio State partisans had hoped he'd continue his career following the same arc as Matt Cassel, former Ohio State backup (and forever Columbus legend) Kenny Guiton will be continuing his professional career as an undrafted free agent after going unselected in the 2014 NFL Draft. Per 10TV's David Wilkinson, Guiton will head to Bills camp for a tryout.

Though there is a bit of clout and resume perks to being a seventh round draft pick, being an UFA affords a player some rare leverage, where by which they're able to choose from a number of suitors and determine which landing spot gives them the best chance to be successful. The money is often negligible from one spot to the next, but being able to slot in to the right place can be the difference between a sustained NFL career and a cup of coffee.

Guiton, a three-star out of high school, has been an under-the-radar type at both of the last two transitional stages of his football staying days. Though he doesn't have a cannon of an arm, Guiton makes great reads, uses the athleticism he has to avoid contact and hits and throws an accurate ball. While he's by no means a sure thing at the next level, he can either maintain a solid career as a backup or transition into a post-football career in coaching and be extremely successful at either.
