Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes have added their 7th commitment for the 2015 recruiting class when Dublin (OH) Scioto linebacker Nick Conner was offered and committed following a strong performance at the Ohio State camp today. Bucknuts writer Steve Helwagen retweeted Dublin Jerome pitcher Clayton Colvin congratulating Conner. Eleven Warriors and 247Sports soon confirmed that Conner had committed. As it turns out, however, a post on his personal Instagram account confirming the commitment pre-dated all other social media activity and subsequent reports.
Despite being one of the top players in the state of Ohio's 2015 class, Conner had to camp in order to earn an offer from the Scarlet and Gray and once he received the offer he quickly accepted it.
Conner was definitely one of the better players in attendance at today's camp and spent a fair amount of time working in front of linebackers coach Luke Fickell and head coach Urban Meyer. In addition to the offer from Ohio State he had scholarships offers from the likes of Michigan State, Oregon, Kentucky, Virginia Tech, Ole Miss, and quite a few others.
There's a legitimate chance the Buckeyes could land three linebackers in this class, with all three of them being from the state of Ohio. The other two major targets are Cincinnati (OH) St. Xavier standout Justin Hilliard and Cleveland (OH) Benedictine linebacker Jerome Baker.
Here's what Conner brings to the Buckeyes' linebacking corp:
Land-Grant Holy Land will have more on Conner's commitment to Ohio State soon.
