With the centerpieces of Ohio State's 2014-2015 basketball schedule likely already in place (vs Marquette, vs UNC in Chicago and at Louisville as part of the Big Ten/ACC Challenge), this is the time of year that the school starts announcing who will fill out the rest of the schedule. We already knew that the Buckeyes would host UMass-Lowell, and recently, we reported that the Buckeyes would also host Sacred Heart. Today, another opponent comes to light, and this team won't have to travel very far.
Per Wright State's AD Bob Grant, the Raiders of the Horizon League will travel to Columbus to face Ohio State. The date is not yet known. Last year, Wright State finished 21-15, losing in the Horizon League Tournament title game to UW-Milwaukee, and then made it to the second round of the CIT before falling to Ohio University, 56-54. They finished at No. 124 in KenPom, and were 177th in RPI, one spot ahead of last season OSU opponent Bryant University (whom the Buckeyes dispatched, 86-48).
Ohio State is 3-0 all time against the Raiders, having last met to open Ohio State's 2011-2012 season, a game won by the Buckeyes, 73-42. Many Buckeye fans have clamored for the team to schedule more opponents from the state of Ohio, and given that the Raiders could be competitive again in the Horizon League, this should be a good pairing for both teams.
