A year after having Ryan Shazier and Bradley Roby gloss the pages of Phil Steele's annual preview as preseason first-team All-Americans, Michael Bennett follows in their footsteps. The senior from Centerville joins Michigan State's Shilique Calhoun on a loaded defensive line that also includes last year's Orange Bowl nemesis, Vic Beasley.
Checking in on the second team is true sophomore Joey Bosa. Bosa, who a season ago recorded 13.5 tackles for a loss to go with 7.5 sacks, is expected to be one of the most feared perimeter edge rushers in the Big Ten this fall. Bosa is the youngest of any of the Buckeyes recognized on the four preseason All-American teams.
Ohio State quarterback Braxton Miller checks in as the third team quarterback, trailing projected high first round pick Oregon QB Marcus Mariota and defending Heisman Trophy winner Jameis Winston. Maryland's electric (and one time Ohio State recruiting target) Stefon Diggs, Michigan's Devin Funchess and Jake Ryan, Michigan State's Trae Waynes and Kurtis Drummond, Illinois' V'Angelo Bentley and Indiana's Matt Dooley join Miller as B1G representatives on Steele's All-American third team.
Finally, Buckeyes tight end (and possible Braxton Miller safety blanket) Jeff Heuerman checks in as the fourth team All-American tight end. FSU's (and grandson of Buckeye great Jack Nicklaus) Nick O'Leary, Louisville's DeVante Parker, and Funchess are the first three teams' tight ends.
Phil Steele's 2014 college football preview magazine hits newsstands June 24.
