Ohio State recruiting: State Secrets, 6/5 - 1 new offer, walk-on commit

Highly-touted Arizona lineman in the 2017 class gets an Ohio State offer. Plus, the Buckeyes make the lists of top schools for two prospects in the 2015 recruiting class and more.

We get things started with Ohio State sending out a new offer to '17 OG Kayden Lyles. The 6'3", 290-pounder is already becoming a major target for schools across the country. The Saguaro High School (AZ) offensive lineman has already piled up offers from Arizona, Arizona State, Michigan State, Missouri, Notre Dame, Oklahoma, UCLA, Utah, Wisconsin and now the Buckeyes. Lyles and his brother, '16 QB Kare' Lyles, visited Ohio State this past weekend while participating in the NFTC. The Lyles brothers are teammates of '15 WR Christian Kirk who recently named the Buckeyes in his Top 10.

'15 OT Matthew Burrell announced his Top 15 last night on his Twitter account. As expected, the Virginia native included Ohio State in that list. The other schools that join the Buckeyes on the list are Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, Florida, FSU, Georgia, LSU, Michigan, Oklahoma, Penn State, South Carolina, Texas, Texas A&M and Iowa. Burrell is currently a 4-star prospect and the 67th overall player in the 2015 class. The 6'6", 275-pounder is also the 7th best player at his position and the 3rd in the state of Virginia.

Joining Burrell, Ohio State also made the top list for '15 Safety Will SunderlandAccording to Rivals' Marc Givler, the 4-star has the Buckeyes in his top three. Sunderland currently has offers from Arkansas, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State and Tulsa. The Midwest City (OK) defensive back is currently the 182nd ranked player in the country, the 12th ranked safety and the 4th best player in the state of Oklahoma.

The last bit of football news for the day is Ohio State adding a new walk-on commit. According to his college coach, Snow College (UT) RB Jeffie Johnson accepted the walk-on offer yesterday. The 5'10", 210-pounder went to high school at Hilliard Bradley in Ohio. You can check out the newest Buckeye in action here.

Moving on to Ohio State basketball recruiting news. According to the coach of '15 PF Esa Ahmad, Ohio State and Iowa State were in to check out the 4-star yesterday. The 247Sports Crystal Ball still favors the Buckeyes to land the 67th best player in the 2015 recruiting class.

Lastly, '16 SF Willie Jackson of Garfield Heights (OH) is planning to visit Ohio State this summer according to Evan Flood of 247Sports. The 6'6", 210-pounder currently has offers from Akron, Illinois, Iowa, Penn State, Toledo and Wisconsin. Jackson is also receiving interest from Michigan, Michigan State and Ohio State.
