With the dead period coming into effect earlier this week (Monday), Ohio State has still made sure that the recruiting targets are well aware of what they think of the prospects. One of those recruits is '15 S Carlton Davis (Norland/Miami, FL). Davis will be attending the Buckeyes' annual Friday Night Lights camp on July 25th and will spend the day after that camp at South Carolina. The 6'1, 182-pound safety is rated as a three star in the 247 Composite and holds offers from Alabama, Arkansas, Cincinnati, Clemson, Florida, Georgia, LSU, Miami, Notre Dame, Ohio State, and South Carolina among some of the other top schools.

The 247 Crystal Ball has two picks, both going for Miami, but according to 247, Davis is focusing on four schools right now, which includes Florida, South Carolina, Ohio State, and Miami. The Buckeyes could actually find themselves in a pretty good position to land the talented defensive back.

Switching gears to basketball, '15 PF Carlton Bragg will be trimming his large list to just five teams on September 1st. While that may be a bit of ways down the road from now, it's clear that he hasn't been comfortable in making a decision quite yet.  The 6'8, 205-pound forward is ranked as the No. 8 overall prospect and third ranked power forward in the 2015 class according to the 247Sports Composite. Bragg is also the top player overall from the state of Ohio, so this is a big opportunity for head coach Thad Matta in trying to recruit his talents.

Despite holding offers from virtually every major college program, Kentucky (39 percent), Ohio State (30 percent), Kansas (24 percent) and UCLA (6 percent) are the four teams represented on his Crystal Ball. Unfortunately, Bragg also recently said that only Illinois, Kansas, and Kentucky were guaranteed to make the final cut, so the Buckeyes aren't quite out of the woods yet.

Finally, '15 TE/DE Jake Pickard (Millburn, New Jersey) will also be attending Friday Night Lights on July 25th, and while the three star tight end doesn't yet have an offer from Ohio State, expect that to change in the next few weeks or so. If the Buckeyes do offer Pickard, there's a good chance they could take the lead or at least be in the running for his services. The 6'6, 231-pounder is currently projected to be heading to Boston College (61 percent) over Purdue (28 percent) and Oregon (11 percent).

Pickard holds offers from Boston College, Louisville, Nebraska, Oregon, Purdue, Rutgers, and Virginia. He's also drawing interest from teams such as Alabama, Kansas State, Oklahoma, Wisconsin.
