Ohio State's non-conference basketball schedule hasn't been officially announced yet, but games continue to leak out. Today, we learned that Ohio State will be hosting an exempt tournament in Columbus called the Buckeye Classic. This tournament will include the game against the Campbell Fighting Camels that was previously reported, along with matchups against the Colgate Raiders, and the James Madison Dukes. Ohio State will face Campbell on November 26th, and while the dates for the other games have not yet been announced, it is likely they will be near that date.

Buckeye fans might recognize the Patriot League since the Buckeyes played (and beat) their champion, American University, last season. Hardcore hoop heads might also recognize it from "The Last Amateurs", a popular college basketball book by John Feinstein.

The Raiders went 13-18 last year, good for seventh in the Patriot League. Colgate was 187 in KenPom, and had an RPI of 254. While their on-paper numbers weren't spectacular, the Raiders did give both Wake Forest and Georgetown tough games last season.

Ohio State is 1-1 against Colgate all time, with the last meeting a 77-58 Ohio State win in 1980. The Raiders grabbed their victory way back in 1908. We feel pretty confident Ohio State will take the lead in the historical series after this season.

James Madison also struggled last season, finishing 11-20, although they won 21 games and made the NCAA Tournament in 2012-2013 season. The Dukes have alternated 20 win campaigns every other year for the past several seasons under coach Matt Brady, so perhaps they're due for a bounce back for this coming season. James Madison had a KenPom ranking of 267, and had an RPI of 233.

We contacted Ohio State's athletic department earlier in the day for confirmation and were only told that "Ohio State's schedule has not yet been released." Colgate was also unable to confirm the date or their participation in the event. We've reached out to James Madison for comment as well.

We will continue to update you on Ohio State's non-conference schedule, as well as details about the Buckeye Classic, as we learn them.
