Ohio State recruiting: State Secrets, 7/2 - Patrick Allen includes Ohio State in top 5, Hilliard and Cornell set to announce

Today is shaping up to be a huge day for the Buckeyes. Two top targets Justin Hilliard and Jashon Cornell will be announcing their college choices. Also, Patrick Allen released his top five which included Ohio State.

Allen pegs Bucks in Top 5

Starting things off today, offensive lineman Patrick Allen named a top five and Ohio State was included. Allen, who stands at 6'5, has always held interest in Ohio State, so this announcement shouldn't come as a shocker. From Franklin High School in Maryland, the majority of crystal ball predictions have him winding up at Georgia, but this process doesn't seem like it'll be over quickly. Allen visited Ohio State at the end of May and another summer visit would be telling. Allen holds over 20 offers as we stand right now. There are still questions about how many offensive linemen the Buckeyes will take in this year's class, but if Allen wants in, you'd think he would be granted a spot.

Christmas in July?

As you already know, today could be a huge day for Ohio State football as Justin Hilliard and Jashon Cornell will be announcing their college decisions. Both seem to be trending towards Ohio State, and it's been that way for some time. We caught up with Jashon as he previewed today's decision and what he is looking for in the school that he ultimately picks.

For Hilliard, a commitment from the Cincinnati native would do wonders on a few scales for Ohio State. Outside of getting one of the top overall prospects in the state of Ohio, Hilliard has tight connections with a number of other top prospects around the country. It's been known that Justin Hilliard is close with Christian Kirk, Damien Harris, and Jerome Baker, to name a few. With The Opening coming up later this month, Hilliard would be able to talk to numerous prospects and do his own "type" of recruiting. It''s fair to say that other athletes gravitate to him extremely well. Hilliard is set to announce at 10 a.m. ET.

WR/TE to make choice, too

Another prospect of interest, Miles Boykin, will also be announcing his college decision today. Boykin, remember, is a tall, big-time receiver at 6'4, but could be moved to right end at the next level. With 4.41 speed, any team that's able to grab him will be getting a gem. He last visited Columbus on May 10 and while the Buckeyes are a player for sure, it could come down to Notre Dame and Michigan State.
