According to a report from the Canton Repository, Ohio State football player Devin Smith was involved in a car accident this past Sunday. Per the report, Smith lost control of his car early Sunday and flipped the vehicle before striking a utility pole. Ohio State spokesperson Jerry Emig told ABC6's Clay Hall, "We are aware of incident and it's my understanding Devin has been on campus this week and is okay."
The traffic report obtained by the Repository showed that while alcohol was suspect to be involved with the crash, Smith's blood tests showed he was under the legal limit. Smith faces a failure to control his vehicle charge as a result, though the chief of police told the outlet that the investigation was ongoing.
Smith was expected to be Braxton Miller's number one target this coming fall, though coaches have spoken time and time again for the need for the entire receiving corp to step up with the loss of Corey "Philly" Brown. Assuming no additional charges are filed, you'd have to think it would be unlikely for Smith to face any discipline as a result of the incident.
