Urban Meyer met with the media on Saturday morning. Though Saturday's practice was initially supposed to be open to the press, that was later changed for reasons unknown. The press conference was supposed to begin at 11:45 a.m., but indicative of the time of the year, Meyer failed to appear until over 45 minutes later.
Here were the notable takeaways from Meyer's time speaking to the media.
Braxton Miller was back, but limited:
Urban Meyer said Braxton Miller scrimmaged today. Had limited throws.

He went on to say Miller will "be ready".

Meyer said soreness is what's holding Miller back. 14 days until Navy.

Darryl Baldwin will be your opening weekend starter at right tackle:

Alabama transfer Chad Lindsay has been injured but is still competing for a starting spot:

Meyer is high on the defensive line, arguably the strength of the Ohio State defense:
Meyer said the front 7 on defense fits their style of play, but said everyone has long, athletic guys.

There was a lot of talk that last year's recruiting class would play early. That mostly didn't prove to the case:
Meyer said he's a little disappointed they haven't had instant impact from last year's recruiting class. Coaches responsibility.
— Patrick Murphy (@_Pat_Murphy_) August 16, 2014
But Meyer is optimistic this year's group will buck that trend:
Meyer is more confident a freshman will make an instant impact this year. Other than Bosa, has been disappointed in first 2 yrs with that.

There are a few injuries in the secondary, but one player is really standing out:
Meyer on CB injuries: Marshon Lattimore has a tight hamstring, Armani Reeves has a tight hamstring. #Buckeyes

"He’s playing like and All Big Ten corner," Meyer said on Doran Grant.

Ezekiel Elliott's returned post-wrist surgery, but he's apparently taking it slowly:
According to Meyer, Ezekiel Elliott is back in practice, but no contact yet. #Buckeyes

One member of the previously mentioned defensive line is drawing rave reviews for his progress:
Meyer said Tommy Schutt is the "most improved player at Ohio State right now."
— Patrick Maks (@maksimuspatrick) August 16, 2014
The chase to be the starter at running back is still very much on:
Meyer on RBs Bri'onte Dunn, Rod Smith -- "I give credit to Bri'onte and Rod. Every day they've worked their tails off. They are in the mix."
— Tim May (@TIM_MAYsports) August 16, 2014
With Noah Spence suspended until Week 3, expect to see these names on the field:
Meyer said Steve Miller, Rashad Frazier will fill in for Noah Spence. Jalyn Holmes making a push.
— Patrick Maks (@maksimuspatrick) August 16, 2014
Coach Urban Meyer is optimistic, however:
Meyer: "I feel good. I like our players. The nagging injuries, they're fighting through them."
— Bill Rabinowitz (@brdispatch) August 16, 2014
Though Meyer had said previously that Cardale Jones had won the backup job, that apparently is no longer the case:
Meyer said J.T. Barrett has moved "slightly ahead" of Cardale Jones for the backup QB spot.
— Eric Seger (@EricSeger33) August 16, 2014
Taylor Decker sounds like a strong candidate for captaincy:
Meyer on LT Taylor Decker: "He acts like a captain. I'm really, really impressed with his leadership skills." #Buckeyes
