Here are the highlights from Urban Meyer's first regular season game week press conference of the year. Meyer spoke to the starting quarterback, how close the battle for that job was, what the competitions on the offensive line are looking like, as well as named his five captains for the season:
-- Braxton Miller met with famed surgeon Dr. James Andrews Monday morning and will have surgery Tuesday on his torn labrum
-- Meyer says left guard hasn't been named and that Joel Hale, Billy Price, and Antonio Underwood are all still in it
-- The starting center role is still up for grabs as well with Boren and Chad Lindsay the two most probable
-- Gareon Conley and Eli Apple have not separated themselves from one another and will both play opposite Doran Grant
-- Evan Spencer, Devin Smith, Mike Thomas, Corey Smith, Jalin Marshall, and Dontre Wilson will be Ohio State's six wide receivers
-- Meyer says J.T. Barrett is the starting quarterback but there's not a huge separation. Meyer can see a situation where Jones comes in if Barrett doesn't get the job done
-- Curtis Grant is the starting linebacker and is a captain along with Braxton Miller, tight end Jeff Heuerman, defensive lineman Michael Bennett, cornerback Doran Grant
-- Heuerman is not 100% after suffering a foot injury and missing all of spring practice but is expected to be ready to go for Navy
-- Meyer calls J.T. Barrett "Guiton-ish"
-- Meyer says there are some game management areas they'll have to adjust due to the unique nature of facing Navy
-- Ezekiel Elliott is full go. Meyer says Rod Smith and Bri'onte Dunn had great camps and that Warren Ball's had a slight concussion and hasn't practiced the last few days. Meyer also mentioned Samuel as one of four guys who are evolved in the kicking game ("you can't carry the ball if you aren't involved in the kicking game.")
-- If Braxton Miller can travel, he'll count against the 70 man roster. Meyer says Miller won't be able to go to Navy
-- J.T. Barrett won't speak to the media this week, not unlike Johnny Manziel did at Texas A&M his first season as a redshirt freshman starter
-- In terms of where OSU's at heading into Saturday, Meyer: "I think we're ready. I like where we're at, especially after today's practice."
