Ohio State vs. Alabama, Sugar Bowl 2015 live stream: How to watch online, TV schedule and more

The Buckeyes and the Crimson Tide kick off tonight at 8:30 p.m. ET on ESPN (channel 1301 on Time Warner Columbus/Delaware).

Chuck Cook-USA TODAY Sports

Happy New Year, Buckeye Nation! We hope you resolved to watch more college football this year, because if so, we can help you with that! (For all other new year's resolutions, you're on your own.)

Today is the day we've been waiting for our whole lives; the inaugural College Football Playoff begins todays. Both semifinal games will be played today, and the championship game will be on Monday, Jan. 12.

Your Ohio State Buckeyes will be facing off against the top-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide. You won't want to miss any of the action on this, an historic day for college football, so let's look at everything you'll need to know to watch and root for the Buckeyes.

When and where is the game today?

Ohio State is playing today in the Allstate Sugar Bowl, one of the two semifinal games, in New Orleans, LA. The game will be held in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, also known as the home of the New Orleans Saints. Kickoff is at 8:30 p.m., leaving you plenty of time to try out a few hangover remedies after last night.

How can I watch the game if I'm not there?

The entire College Football Playoff will be on ESPN and WatchESPN. To watch the game online as it will appear on TV, you'll need to log in with your cable provider. If you don't have login credentials, or just want to mix things up, ESPN3 will be streaming the "Spidercam" view. A Spanish broadcast of the game will also be available to stream via ESPN Deportes, which will require cable credentials. Our ESPN announcers for the game will be Brad Nessler, Todd Blackledge, and Holly Rowe. If radio is more your thing, then you can always listen in with Paul Keels on the Ohio State sports radio network.

How has OSU faired against Alabama in the past?

We don't have much history with the Crimson Tide. The two teams have met three times in football before, and Ohio State has never won. You can read more about the history here. At the coaching level, Urban Meyer and Alabama coach Nick Saban have also met three times before, with Meyer winning once. But hey, as we proved in the Big Ten Championship game last month, this team doesn't mind being the underdogs.

What about the other bowl games today?

This year, the semifinal games are the Sugar Bowl and the Rose Bowl, which will feature Oregon vs. Florida State. That game will be on just before ours, with kickoff scheduled for 5:00 p.m. ET on ESPN and WatchESPN. There are three other bowl games being played today, all featuring Big Ten teams, and all featuring teams from the top 25. Check out the chart below for the complete New Year's Day lineup.
