Shaun Wade commits to Ohio State

Ohio State reels in a big recruit -- on the day of the national championship game no less!

247Sports

Just seven hours before Ohio State is set to due battle with Oregon for the inaugural College Football Playoff Championship Game, the Buckeyes got great news from the recruiting trail.

In a bit of a surprise, four-star cornerback Shaun Wade committed to the Buckeyes. Wade hails from Trinity Christian Academy in Jacksonville, FL. The high school sophomore checks in at 6'2, 175 pounds. The defensive back becomes Ohio State's second commit of the 2017 class joining Massillon quarterback Danny Clark.

Though the ratings are extremely preliminary, he's only been evaluated by 247Sports where he is the second best corner in the 2017 class, the third best player from the state of Florida, and the 14th overall player in the entire class.

Congrats to Urban Meyer, Mark Pantoni, and the Buckeye recruiting brain trust on reeling one in, on the day of the big game no less. To see what Wade brings to the Buckeyes, check out these highlights, courtesy of Hudl:
