Ohio State confirms Ohio State basketball will face Memphis in Miami next season

Ohio State's basketball schedule will get a boost next season, thanks to a South Beach showdown with Memphis

A few months ago, a future matchup with Ohio State and Memphis for next season was first reported. Today, Ohio State confirmed the game, and added some additional details. The Buckeyes and the Memphis Tigers will be facing off against each other in the 2015 Hoophall Miami Invitational. Ohio State and Memphis will be participating in a doubleheader, along with Kentucky and South Florida at American Airlines Arena in Miami, on Nov. 27. The game will be broadcast on ESPN, with the exact times to be announced later. That's also the day before Ohio State-Michigan football that season.

If you are looking to buy tickets, they go on sale starting January 31.

Per the original report, Ohio State is scheduled to play three campus round games before the neutral court battle with Memphis. In the official release, it is mentioned that the Metro Atlantic Conference is the sponsoring conference for the multi-team events, which means that Ohio State will likely face at least one MAAC team (if not multiple ones) next season.

Buckeye basketball fans may have fond memories of Ohio State's last battle with a MAAC squad, a 95-70 win over Iona in the 2012-2013 NCAA Tournament. Ohio State fans may also have less fond memories a postseason MAAC battle, when Siena knocked off Ohio State in their opening game. Iona leads the MAAC this season, tied with Rider and Monmouth.

Ohio State is 4-3 all time against the MAAC, with a 2-1 record against Iona, 0-1 against Manhattan, 1-0 against Rider, and 1-1 against Siena.

Ohio State is also currently scheduled to face Kentucky on December 19, 2015 in Brooklyn, and will travel to UConn to face the Huskies on December 12, for the first leg in a home and home. Ohio State will also get a home game in next season's Big Ten/ACC challenge, so at the very least, fans won't be able to complain as much about the schedule.

Memphis is currently 11-7, and is tied for fourth place in The American conference. Ohio State is 2-0 against Memphis all time.
