As first reported by former Columbus area attorney Craig Calcaterra, Ohio State running back Ezekiel Elliott was cited after a car crash before the team's flight to Phoenix yesterday. Calcaterra, a currently non-practicing lawyer, is the lead baseball writer at NBCSports.com and based out of New Albany.
Columbus Police told News Radio 610 WTVN Elliott was involved in a single-car accident along State Route 315. Calcaterra further clarified that Elliott was apparently driving on a suspended license. WTVN confirmed that aspect of the report.
According to Ohio State coach Urban Meyer after the team arrived for later this week's Fiesta Bowl against Notre Dame, only senior defensive tackle Tommy Schutt is expected out for the game with injury. Elliott traveled with the team as expected.
Per an Ohio State spokesperson to ABC6's Clay Hall, Elliott's multiple traffic citations will not impact his participation in New Year's Day's bowl game.
