While out on the recruiting trail, keeping the top Central Ohio prospects home has always been one of the main objectives for the Ohio State football staff. During the spring game festivities on Saturday, the Buckeyes did just that by adding the verbal pledge of 2017 cornerback Marcus Williamson of Westerville South.
Wiilliamson, a 5'10 180 pound, four-star prospect, who had been on commit watch since receiving his scholarship offer from the Buckeyes in October chose to continue his education and playing days at Ohio State over offers from programs such as Michigan, Michigan State, Kentucky, Indiana, and Tennessee.
Not just one of the top overall prospects in the Columbus area, but the entire country, the sophomore standout Williamson currently ranks as the fifth cornerback, and 87th overall recruit in the 2017 class, per the 247Sports Composite.
Still more than two years away from running out of the tunnel onto the Ohio Stadium turf, Williamson is fifth 2017 recruit to verbally commit to Urban Meyer and the Buckeyes, joining Danny Clark, Josh Myers, Bruce Judson, and Shaun Wade.
Before you have the chance to see Williamson cause all kinds of havoc in the defensive backfield for the silver bullets take a few moments to watch some of his high school highlights, courtesy of Hudl:
