Why is this news?: Tyus Battle commits to Michigan, Ohio State wrestling is still awesome

All the big Ohio State news, in one helpful place.

"The Wolverines currently have the top class in the nation according to 247Sports."

-Bill Landis, Cleveland.com, on Tyus Battle committing to Michigan

Big Ten basketball just got better, as Michigan secured the commitment of five star wing Tyus Battle today. Battle was also a Buckeye target, but as Landis points out, it's not a big surprise that the Buckeyes weren't able to reel him in. Right now, Ohio State technically doesn't have a 2016 scholarship to give out, but they're still recruiting some guards and wings, should one open up later on, due to transfer, or somebody deciding to head to the NBA.

Michigan basketball has been great at developing players over the past few years, and now that they seem to have a killer class lined up for 2016, which also includes two other four star big men, and now that they have a potentially elite wing to go with them, the Wolverines could be tough to beat in 2016. Ohio State's young team will have plenty of seasoning by then though, and they're getting front court reinforcements themselves. One thing's for sure though, the Big Ten is going to be a tough league for the foreseeable future.

"Kyle Snyder added perhaps the most impressive win to his already outstanding 2014-15 season, capturing the U.S. Open freestyle title on Saturday"

-Ohio State

In his rookie season with Ohio State wrestling, all Kyle Snyder did was go 30-4, and finish as a Big Ten and national runner up at 197 pounds. Now, he just knocked off 2012 Olympic gold medalist Jake Varner to win the US Open, AND win the Most Outstanding Wrestler award. That's pretty good, right?

Ohio State wrestling was outstanding, and won a national title while being paced by some talented uppclassmen, like four time national champion Logan Stieber. With performances like this one from Snyder though, you have to think that Ohio State football isn't the only elite Buckeye program that reloads, instead of rebuilds.

"The Steelers have signed their fourth-round selection, cornerback Doran Grant"

-Pittsburgh Steelers

Now it's official, as former Ohio State cornerback Doran Grant has inked his NFL deal with Pittsburgh, who seems to pick up a half dozen Buckeyes every single year. Terms of the deal were not disclosed, per Steelers.com. Grant was a first team All-Big Ten selection and started every game for the Buckeyes. You can read more about what Grant specifically brings to the table in the NFL right here. We wish him the very best.
