As expected, after another disastrous close to what had been an otherwise great 2015 college baseball season, Ohio State will miss the postseason once again.
To add insult to insult, Michigan's improbable run to a Big Ten baseball tournament championship likely helped put the nail in the coffin to leave the Buckeyes on the outside looking in.
The Buckeyes had a Top 40 worthy RPI, but ultimately losing 10 of 11 games down the stretch (a number in gutwrenching late game fashion) along with a two-and-barbecue Big Ten tournament showing sealed their fate. OSU baseball will watch from Columbus for the fifth straight year.
Coming off a near-historic 47-8-1 2015 campaign (and remarkable league play run), Big Ten rivals Illinois are one of 16 regional hosts and will welcome top teams to Champaign later this week. The Illini are first time hosts of a regional, which Ohio State was openly speculated about being potentially in line for as recently as a month and change ago.
