Ohio State recruiting: OSU offer excites 2017 TE Cole Kmet

The Buckeyes impress another top prospect.

The Buckeyes might already hold a verbal pledge from Jake Hausmann of Cincinnati Moeller, and is in good shape to possibly add Perry's Luke Farrell to the 2016 class , but that isn't keeping the Ohio State coaching staff from recruiting talented 2017 tight end prospects.

After recently offering Moeller junior Matt Dotson, Ohio State dished out a scholarship to Cole Kmet of St. Viator in Arlington Heights, Illinois after the 6'4 225-pound playmaker shined in front of the Buckeye staff at camp earlier this week.

"Camp was great. Coach Hinton really pushed me to keep going. We did sled drills near the end of camp and he wanted to see what I was made of. Coach Meyer called me over at the end of camp. Coach Meyer told me he was very impressed with my performance and that he wants me to be a Buckeye and was offering a full scholarship. It's an amazing feeling. I still can't believe it happened." Kmet stated to Land-Grant Holy Land.

"When I think of OSU football I think of leadership, tradition, and making you better as a man. The facilities are amazing there. Also their life after football program really caught my attention cause I know football won't last forever." He added.

The Buckeyes, Baylor, Iowa, Kentucky, Louisville, North Carolina, and Northwestern are just a few programs to offer a scholarship to Kmet over the last few months. Even though Ohio State might be the new team on the hunt for Cole, after having the chance to visit OSU and mingle with members of the coaching staff, the national champions definitely have his attention.

"All the schools that offered have great programs, but being able to see Ohio State was really amazing. When I think of OSU football I think of leadership, tradition, and making you better as a man. The facilities are amazing there. Also their life after football program really caught my attention cause I know football won't last forever."

Kmet isn't done with the camp season. Tomorrow he will head to South Bend, Indiana and display his skills in front of the Notre Dame coaching staff. The Irish have yet to offer, but have had the pass catching tight end on their radar for quite sometime.
