Buckeyes offer nation's No.2 Offensive Guard

Even with the hype surrounding the upcoming visit of five-star defensive tackle Rashard Lawrence this weekend, it seems Urban Meyer and the coaching staff of the Ohio State Buckeyes never take a day off. Thursday, Ohio State offered four-star offensive guard Terrance Davis a chance to play for the defending national champions, but winning the kid over will not be easy.

Davis, a 6'4, 305-pound OG out of Maryland, has been heavily recruited by two teams in the Big Ten, the first being his home-state Maryland Terrapins and the second being the Buckeye arch-rival Michigan Wolverines. To make matters worse, Davis was offered a scholarship to play for Meyer's old team, the Florida Gators, just days before the Buckeyes reached out to him.

Currently, 247Sports Crystal Ball predicts the No. 2 OG of the 2016 class to choose Michigan. However, this was before the offer from Ohio State, and as is common knowledge around the college football recruiting world, never count out Meyer and the Buckeyes.

Ahmir Mitchell Schedules Weekend Visit

This weekend is shaping up to be extremely important for Ohio State as three key recruits have planned to visit Columbus. With the majority of the hype surrounding five-star Rashard Lawrence and four-star Jaylon Jones, four-star athlete Ahmir Mitchell's scheduled visit has somewhat flown under the radar.

Mitchell, the nation's No. 6 athlete in the 247Sports Composite, is another highly touted recruit choosing between both the Buckeyes and the Wolverines, with Michigan being the current favorites. The 6'3, 206-pounder out of Egg Harbor City, New Jersey, visited both schools back in March but hasn't returned to either since, until scheduling his upcoming visit to Columbus.

If the Buckeye coaching staff is set on trying to steal Mitchell away from Michigan, it is imperative that they make a solid impression on him this weekend. It is being reported he will be traveling up north to visit Jim Harbaugh and the Wolverines next week.

Wayne Davis Places OSU in Top 3

Late Thursday evening, 2016 three-star CB Wayne Davis tweeted out his top 3, including Ohio State. Ahead of the Buckeyes, at No. 2 on the list was Virginia Tech and at the top was -- who else -- Michigan?

The 5'11, 187-pounder out of Virginia has yet to visit the Ohio State campus, but back in May Buckeye assistant coaches Chris Ash and Zach Smith both paid the 247Sports No. 31 CB a visit. It is expected that Davis will soon plan a visit to Ohio State, and one would have to assume that the Buckeyes' best chance in moving up on his list is getting a visit scheduled sooner rather than later.
