The Walter Camp Player of the Year Award watch list has been announced, and includes Braxton Miller, J.T. Barrett, Cardale Jones, Ezekiel Elliott, and Joey Bosa.
The three-headed Ohio State quarterback monster, consisting of Braxton Miller, J.T. Barrett, and Cardale Jones were all named to the watch list. These three have all received preseason award recognition, and rightfully so. Urban Meyer has yet to name a starter, but it is clear that the belief is that any of the three are more than capable of leading this Buckeye squad that is full of talent.
Arguably the greatest running back in the nation, Ezekiel Elliott was also named to the watch list. Up until last week, Zeke was the preseason Heisman favorite. He is now only second to TCU's Trevone Boykin. With plenty of time to go before the season starts, Zeke could very well find himself as the favorite once again when the season rolls around. Either way, his name has to be on this watch list, he's too good.
To go along with the trio of quarterbacks and Elliott comes perhaps the best prospect in the 2016 NFL Draft in defensive end Joey Bosa. Bosa is the biggest name on an Ohio State defense loaded with playmakers. He was 5th in all of FBS with 14 sacks. Whether he gets to the quarterback or not, his presence on the defensive line has a huge effect on the flow of a game.
The Walter Camp Award is given out every year to the college football Player of the Year, and is named after former Yale University athlete and football coach Walter Camp. Archie Griffin won the award in back-to-back years for the Buckeyes in 1974-75. Eddie George took home the award in 1995, as well as Troy Smith in 2006.
