Pryts to attend FNL
The Buckeyes are surely in no rush when it comes to filling out the 2016 class. However, at this time, Ohio State only has one defensive back in the fold. That prospect is '16 three-star CB Kareem Felder from Baltimore, Maryland. While plenty of names are still in play for OSU, it was '16 safety Andrew Pryts who made headlines on Wednesday.
According to Steve Wiltfong of 247Sports.com, the Hickory (PA) defensive back will be visiting Columbus "soon." After taking a look at Pryts' 247Sports profile, you can see that "soon" means Friday Night Lights on July 24th. FNL is a great chance for the Buckeyes to impress the No. 9 player in the Keystone State. Fans will be out in full force to check out the young talent on hand and the staff will surely get some one-on-one time with plenty of the top prospects in attendance.
As of now, my personal Friday Night Lights visitor list includes over 30 names and as the event inches closer, more will be added. For now, Penn State has the lead on the 247Sports Crystal Ball for the 6'1, 199-pounder. We'll have to see if Pryts' visit later this month will change that. The Hermitage, Pennsylvania native is currently graded as the 19th-best safety in the country and the 312th-best player overall.
White looking for OSU offer
Speaking of defensive backs, one to watch for the 2017 class is Olentangy Liberty (OH) Safety Brendon White. White is a 6'2, 195-pounder who has offers from Boston College, Illinois, Marshall, and Toledo at this point. But the one offer he wants is from the Scarlet and Gray.
White, who is the son of former Buckeye William White, shared some interesting quotes with Bill Greene about what an Ohio State offer would do to his recruitment.
"If I get the offer from Ohio State, I will commit there. It's my dream school, and I want to follow in my dad's footsteps." - Brendon White to Bill Greene.
Scout 300 released
On Tuesday, Scout.com released their Top 100 prospects in the 2017 recruiting class. Included in the list were Josh Myers (15), Shaun Wade (51), and Marcus Williamson (80), who are all pledged to the Buckeyes. Also a part of the list are Buckeye targets Trevon Grimes (7), Lamont Wade (21), Isaiah Pryor (74), Richard LeCounte (95), and plenty more.
Fresh off of the release of the Top 100, Scout followed up on Wednesday by dropping their Top 300 prospects for next year. As mentioned above, Ohio State had three commitments in the Top 100. They also found the three other commitments in the class -- Bruce Judson (181), Todd Sibley (229), and Danny Clark (242) -- in the Top 300 list.
