With the big Friday Night Lights football camp right around the corner, the list of visitors was sure to continue to grow, and it did on Wednesday.
Jackson set to make huge OSU visit
The biggest bit of news on Wednesday came when 247Sports' Bill Kurelic was able to confirm with '16 DT Antwuan Jackson that he will be in Columbus tomorrow night. Obviously, this is a massive opportunity for the Buckeyes to distance themselves in the race for the Cedar Grove (GA) star. As of today, it looks to be Auburn and Ohio State at the top of the list for Jackson and the good news is, this will be his second visit to Columbus in as many months.
Jackson will make his way to the 614 carrying a 247Sports Composite ranking of 47th overall. To go with that, the Ellenwood native also grades out as the 8th-best defensive tackle in the class and the 4th-best player in the Peach State. Ohio State has been trying to find that defensive tackle to pair with Malik Barrow for the class for quite some time and Jackson has always been one they would love to reel in. If the Buckeyes are able to secure a pledge from Jackson, it would also boost them to the No. 1 recruiting class in the country, for the time being, over LSU and Florida State.
Johnson Jr. ready to trim list
Ohio State already has eight members committed in the 2017 recruiting class. One player they would like to have join them would be '17 WR Keyshawn Johnson Jr. On Friday, the Calabasas (CA) four-star pass-catcher will trim his list of 24 offers down to just eight.
I'll be announcing my top 8 schools on Friday— Keyshawn Jr. (@keyshawnnnn) July 22, 2015
It's a safe bet that USC, Nebraska, and the Buckeyes will be three of those eight teams. It will be interesting to see which other programs make the cut. The son of former three-time NFL pro bowler Keyshawn Johnson will be in Columbus on Friday to participate in the Buckeyes' camp and will release his top 8 afterwards, according to Adam Gorney of Rivals.com.
2018 OG set to see Bucks
Also joining the FNL list of visitors yesterday was '18 OG Emil Ekiyor, according to Jeremy Birmingham of Eleven Warriors. The 6'3, 285-pounder currently attends Cathedral High School in Indianapolis. It's not out of the question for the Indy prospect to grab an offer from the Buckeyes with a solid camp performance. At the moment, Ekiyor holds offers from three programs -- Kentucky, Michigan, and South Florida -- and with quite some time until he has to sign his letter of intent, more programs will throw their name in the mix.
