Coming into the 2016 recruiting cycle tight end was just one of the positions the national champion Buckeyes wanted to add some much needed depth to. Nearly half way until national signing day, and the Buckeyes have just done that.

After landing a verbal commitment from Jake Hausmann of Cincinnati Moeller in January, Urban Meyer and the Ohio State coaching staff  have now picked up a pledge from another standout class of 2016 tight end.

While in Columbus for the annual Friday Night Lights camp on the Ohio State campus, Luke Farrell, a long time OSU lean, finally put the rumors to rest, and committed to OSU. On the Buckeyes radar for well over a year, the 6'6, 240-pound, Perry native picked Ohio State over scholarships from the likes of Michigan State, Notre Dame, Boston College, and Penn State.

Last season as a junior at Perry, Farrell hauled in 43 receptions for over 700 yards, and six touchdowns to help lead the 6-5 Pirates to the state playoffs. According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Luke, the Buckeyes 19th verbal pledge, is considered the fifth best tight end, and 147th overall rated prospect in the 2016 class.
