Ohio State tops first 2015 Amway Coaches Poll Top 25

The defending national champs are back where they finished 2014-15.

Greg Bartram-USA TODAY Sports

The Ohio State Buckeyes go into the 2015 season with high expectations, and the preseason Amway Coaches Poll Top 25 revealed that, as the Buckeyes open 2015 ranked as the No. 1 team in the nation.

The Buckeyes return 14 of 22 starters from a team that won the first College Football Playoff national championship, a team that was incredible to watch on both sides of the ball. They will open up the 2015 season in Blacksburg against Virginia Tech, who start the season unranked, on Sept. 7.

Unlike the BCS, the coaches poll has no determination of the College Football Playoff, which uses their own selection committee to determine participants. That said, it can serve to set a sort of baseline thinking for the committee members (and fans alike), whether they want to admit it or not.

Ohio State's target is officially on their back. Now it's almost time to see if they can live up to the hype or not.
