Even though most attention was set towards Braxton Miller, Joey Bosa, Vonn Bell, and the rest of the Buckeyes' football squad reporting to camp, Ohio State recruiting still found the time to steal the spotlight over the weekend.
On Friday morning class of 2016 wide out Ahmir Mitchell formally announced what fan bases across the country already knew for months. If things weren't already heated between Ohio State and Michigan, the four star prospect from New Jersey tweeted that he is formally down to the Buckeyes and Wolverines.
Jim Harbaugh has been making New Jersey a main target on the recruiting trail when it comes to future Wolverines. Making multiple trips to Ann Arbor in the recent months, many have pegged Mitchell to wind up in the Maize and Blue. Trying to put those assumptions to rest, Ahmir tweeted he has no leader and things are neck and neck between the two programs.
Looking to add another playmaker to the class, Mitchell, who last visited Columbus for the Friday Night Lights camp held at Ohio Stadium, is definitely a prospect the Buckeyes would welcome to the 2016 class with open arms if things don't work out with other recruits. The 6'3, 205-pound weapon is considered the sixth athlete and 82nd-overall prospect in the senior class, according to the 247Sports Composite. He also received scholarship offers from Penn State, Notre Dame, Rutgers, and many other schools.
To be perfectly clear, I have NO favorite. My decision has came down to Michigan and Ohio State. #nofavorite ‼️ pic.twitter.com/0Vb1VGUKLL

Lawrence names top 5
Ahmir Mitchell wasn't the only elite recruit to name the Buckeyes as one of his top schools over the weekend. Saturday evening, Rashard Lawrence also listed Ohio State among his college choices.
Alongside the National Champions, Washington, Alabama, LSU and UCLA made the cut for the five-star talent. The 6'3, 305-pound Lawrence is among the defensive linemen the Buckeye coaching staff are considering for the 2016 class.

Four-star standout Antwuan Jackson is another highly rated recruit that has the Buckeyes high on his short list. With Lawrence and Jackson residing in Louisiana and Georgia, respectively, landing either one of the linemen would prove once again that Urban Meyer and the Ohio State coaching staff can recruit the south with any school in the country.
Both Lawrence and Jackson have made trips to Columbus over the summer. With many top notch prospects starting to set up official visits for the upcoming season, expect to OSU to be among the trips for Rashard and Antwuan.
