In a relative stunner, Ohio State sophomore cornerback Damon Webb has been suspended for a violation of athletic department policy, according to a release from the university.
Webb had been in the mix to start at the corner position opposite Eli Apple before ultimately losing out to fellow sophomore Gareon Conley. Webb had served in spots as the team's nickelback in each of Ohio State's first two games.
Webb came to Ohio State from Cass Tech in Detroit, helping to mark an important territorial victory for Urban Meyer's recruiting braintrust. He was one of the more highly touted recruits in the 2014 class and depending on the extent of the suspension, will be expected to be an impact rotational defender whenever he returns.
